 Puppy socialisation 

We will talk you through the different body language shown and what to look out for during play time.

 

 

 

Learn to explore the world  

The world can be a scary place at times for puppies. Each week we will guide your puppy through new objects & situations.

 

Problem solving & prevention 

We will cover different problem solving and prevention tips for issues that puppy owners commonly face so that if these occur you will be prepared and have a plan in place.

 

 
 

What will you learn?

  • Our course is strongly focused on teaching you how to socialise your puppy with new dogs, people, objects, sounds and life situations (vet visits and grooming etc.).
  • You will learn basic life skills such as toilet training, recall and lead walking. Each week we will cover different problem solving and prevention tips for issues that puppy owners commonly face such as the puppy chewing items, jumping up, barking in the crate, toileting inside etc., so that if these occur you will be prepared and have a plan in place.
  • We will cover basic training commands such as sit, come, drop and leave it.

What does a normal class look like?

  • Some sessions will include puppy play time (subject to a suitable play group) which is run and managed by the instructor. They will talk you through the different body language shown and what to look out for during play time.
  • The instructor will guide participants through the weekly training topic they have been practicing throughout the week.
  • The puppies will explore stations with different sounds, objects and scenarios.
  • Various problem solving and prevention topics will be discussed.
  • "Pass the puppy" exercise where the owners get to meet and interact with each others puppies.

How long does the course take?

The course takes 5 weeks to complete. The first week is done from the comfort of your home and then the next four weeks are completed in person at WAG Doggy Daycare together with other puppies and owners. Each class is 1 hour.

What are the requirements?

  • Puppies will need to be between 7-20 weeks of age when starting the course.
  • All puppies need to have had their first vaccination 1 week prior to starting the course.

Where and when are the in person classes held?

Every Tuesday night at 6.30pm at WAG Doggy Daycare (211 Waltham Road, Sydenham)
